The Montessori method is rooted in the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori whose observations inspired a time-tested, scientific approach to working with young children with a great emphasis on respect for the child and their stages of natural development. Providing ample opportunities for hands-on exploration, or play, with attention to the child’s sensitive periods, periods of intense and focused growth, is essential to the Montessori approach to education. The skills children develop at this stage are critical as they serve as a foundation for all future learning and growth.
We are a home-based program with a group size ranging between six and twelve children with a max ratio of six children per adult.
Our school year is from late August through late May with school closures for holidays, plus regular breaks, including one week off in the Fall for Thanksgiving, one week off during the Spring, and two weeks off in December. Summer camp options may apply.
As a Licensed Child Care Home, we are subject to local, state and federal mandates related to the operation of child care centers. As such, we must abide by the regulations set forth by the Governor of Texas as well as the Child Care Licensing division of Texas Health and Human Services. We are hopeful to remain open, as long as we are able, and will operate with adapted policies in place in accordance with the Minimum Standard Health Protocols for Caregivers set forth by Child Care Regulation and the CDC’s Guidance for Child Care Programs. In the case of a mandated school closure, we will continue to provide virtual support and education for our families as we believe that sustained, positive connections are essential to the health and well-being of all members of our community through this time. Families may access the Open Texas Checklist for Childcare Families here for more information.
